{"id":786,"date":"2025-05-09T14:49:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-09T13:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dasstaging.hotboxstudios.net\/spotlight\/strategic-workforce-modelling-nuclear-sector\/"},"modified":"2025-08-12T16:51:54","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T15:51:54","slug":"strategic-workforce-modelling-nuclear-sector","status":"publish","type":"spotlight","link":"https:\/\/www.das-int.com\/pl\/spotlight\/strategic-workforce-modelling-nuclear-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"Strategic Workforce Modelling: Nuclear Sector"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>In 2017, the approval of a programme to build a fleet of new nuclear power stations meant the number of skilled workers in the sector needed to increase by up to <strong>25%<\/strong> over the next twenty years.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>DAS was commissioned to develop a workforce planning model able to assess the <strong>future supply of skills <\/strong>into the sector. We developed a model that could\u00a0 generate projections of workforce supply over the next twenty years. It enabled <strong>different approaches to increase the nuclear workforce to be explored<\/strong>, such as changing intakes to university, upskilling the workforce, and improving retention rates. Significantly, the model took<strong> less than five seconds to run, leading to rapid strategic insight<\/strong>. It also incorporated the workforce skill requirements from previously completed demand modelling. This enabled a comparison between supply and demand requirements. Our model has been used to <strong>develop nuclear skills strategy<\/strong>, supporting the sector to ensure <strong>they have the long-term skills to deliver critical programmes of
