Based in offices from Glasgow to Sydney, we support clients across five continents.

The Role
DAS is looking for a Chartered Safety Engineer to join our Systems Consulting Practice. You can expect to utilise your domain expertise and sector knowledge to support our energy clients, particularly those in the nuclear sector, with the varied and complex challenges they face. This is a hands-on role, and as a consultant you’ll be expected to support clients to scope projects as well as designing and delivering appropriate solutions. Your key responsibilities will include:
· Supporting clients with safety-critical projects; working to find appropriate solutions to their challenges in the area of safety engineering
· Hands-on project work in line with your skills and expertise, for example Safety Case Management and Safety Case report writing, and supporting clients with adoption and embedding of safety practices
· Positioning yourself as subject matter expert for you client, advising and guiding on appropriate solutions for their business circumstances
· Key account management in the nuclear sector, or account growth with a new or established client

Requirements
About You
We are looking for an established Safety Engineer with nuclear sector experience; specifically, a nuclear enthusiast looking for a role that utilises their professional skills, but encourages engagement and interaction across the breadth of the industry in this transformative time. The successful candidate will most likely have 10+ years' experience, and:
· Be a Chartered Engineer, specifically experienced in the nuclear safety domain
· Be IEC61508 or IEC61513 Functional Safety certified
· Have demonstrable experience in Safety Case Management, Safety Case Report writing and ALARP justification
· Have nuclear sector experience, understanding the current state of the market inclusive of opportunities and challenges
· Awareness of ONR Safety Assessment Principles, Technical Assessment Guides and Site Licence Conditions
· Have a consultancy mindset, preferably with consultancy experience: capable of asking exploratory questions to fully grasp an issue or challenge
· Demonstrable stakeholder engagement skills and enthusiasm to build relationships, network and secure work

The Role
We are seeking a skilled consultant with deep expertise in Operational Research & Analytics and appropriate experience in UK defence to join the business and champion this capability area. You will apply your skills to solve our clients’ most pressing challenges, designing and delivering pioneering, enduring solutions that drive meaningful outcomes. DAS is renowned with clients for our innovative strategic decision-making support, and you would uphold that reputation through your project delivery. Your key responsibilities will include:
· Leading defence analysis projects: acting as the project lead, your role would be to shape the delivery, offer hands-on project support and co-ordinate other team members to deliver projects for our clients
· Key account management: building and maintaining a relationship with a core DAS client, you would be proactively networking with the client, working to understand their needs and position DAS to deliver appropriate support
· Mentoring junior colleagues: as a Lead Consultant within the business you can expect to nurture the skills and interests of more junior colleagues, and adequately support them in their professional development

Requirements
About You
The successful candidate will likely have a STEM or numerical degree and a successful career in the field to date. You will be confident managing stakeholders at various levels and able to present complex information in a digestible way. You will:
· Have significant experience leading and delivering Operational Research and Analysis projects in the Defence or other highly regulated sectors.
· Have knowledge of a variety of OR techniques such as problem structuring, horizon scanning, simulation modelling and analysis.
· Have demonstrable knowledge and experience working in the defence sector.
· Demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement skills.
· Be equally comfortable overseeing a project and getting stuck into the day-to-day activities.
· Be a supportive, constructive manager, and a positive role model for other members of the team.
